Employment HR Briefing
Labour's New Deal for Workers – What will it actually mean for employers?
We would like to invite you to join our employment team for a briefing on the upcoming changes in employment law including:
- Making the minimum wage a 'real living wage' that people can live on, and removing the 'discriminatory' age bands
- Introducing basic day one rights (e.g. parental leave, sick pay and unfair dismissal rights) and ensuring that workers benefit from day one flexible working rights
- Banning exploitative zero hours contracts
- Ending 'fire and rehire' practices
- Introducing a new 'right to switch off'
- Removing 'unnecessary restrictions' on trade union activity in the workplace
- Strengthening equal pay for women, protection from discrimination and harassment, and the rights of disabled people
Our focus will be on providing pragmatic guidance and practical steps for employers to prepare themselves for the changes.
The briefing will be followed by coffee and a chance to speak to our lawyers about any issues currently affecting your organisation.
