In the latest issue of Farm Contractor & Large Scale Farmer magazine, Senior Associate, Annie Wills, has written an article about Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and the Government's response to last years consultation which has further clarified how the proposals will work in practice.
The new requirements will come into effect in November 2023 for most developers, meaning that they will need to show at least a 10% increase in biodiversity for each project. This has raised a lot of questions and concerns.
Annie writes: "As further guidance is published over the coming months, we hope that these matters will become clearer. While there is potential here for farmers and landowners, there remain a number of questions, and the workability will certainly vary from farm to farm."
