Businesses are increasingly reducing headcounts in favour of AI – how can they do so responsibly? (People Management)

The recent developments in AI have enabled businesses to utilise it to increase efficiency and become more responsive to customer needs. However, this reliance on AI has led to significant job losses as the software can perform the work of hundreds of employees in a fraction of the time. It is therefore essential that businesses looking to reduce their headcount approach the redundancy process in a manner that complies with existing redundancy legislation.

Senior Associate, Sophia Zand has had her comments published in an article by People Management, advising that "to reduce the risk of employment claims, employers must ensure there is a genuine redundancy situation, carry out a fair redundancy process by warning and consulting with affected employees about the redundancy, adopt a fair basis on which employees are selected and consider alternatives."
