OPG fee refund scheme launched

The Ministry of Justice has launched the OPG (Office of Public Guardian) fee refund scheme for Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) and Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA) registration fees between 1st April 2013 and 31 March 2017.

Only the Donor or the attorney can apply. Solicitors who submitted the application to register the EPA or LPA cannot apply on a client's behalf.

How much refund is received will depend on the fee at the time. The fee refunds range from £34- £54.

The scheme is by way of application online, however, clients who have no access to the internet can ring the OPG on their helpline number in order to action a telephone claim instead, the details can be accessed here. If the donor does not have a UK bank account or the application is by a Court appointed deputy then the application must be by phone.
